I crafted a book, and I'm gonna talk about how I did that.
The Steps I took (in short)
I think one of, if not the only, thing that went well for me was the designing of the cover, which was maybe the most fun I've had throughout the whole assignment. Probably because it was the most freedom we’ve had while working. We could’ve done basically whatever we wanted. I was in the middle of trying to figure out what I should do for the cover when I was struck with GENIUS. Of course! It was so simple! FROGS!! EVIL FROGS!! AND THEY WANT TO DESTROY THE WORLD!!! That’s what I was gonna do, I said to myself. So I made evil frogs. The cover was inspired by Cold War propaganda and by 1930s King Kong posters, and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Besides the cover, the only other part of the process that went okay was the pasting—because it was really easy.

What was harder?
Everything. I don’t think a single part of the process went smoothly for me. First of all, the cutting. It might’ve taken me, I think, maybe like about 7 or 8 tries to nail this part. We had to cut different types of paper, I cannot remember the exact amount, but we had to cut up bunches of white paper, black paper, and tracing paper, and they all had to be about 20 cm x 28 cm. I think what messed me up at the beginning was that the paper had to be EXACT. If I was a millimeter off, I had to do it again. A few attempts later, and I got a hold of how to do it. Although the tracing paper was a different type of challenge. Since this type of paper is more sensitive, if you cut too hard, it’ll dig right into the side of the paper. By far, the worst part of the process for me was the knotting. The string they gave me was really thin, so it would constantly get stuck or tangled, making me restart 6 or 7 times. I lost so much time on this part alone. Eventually, they gave me some thicker string, and I was able to finish it, but by then, I was already far behind. But in terms of difficulty, I think that might be as far as it goes—everything else wasn’t as bad.

What did I learn?
I learned how to use the machine to print my design onto the book. Also, how to properly use a cutting board. That, plus anger management.

A part of me died. Already mentioned how the tracing paper was difficult to deal with, but the worst of it came when I had to print the design onto the book. We had to choose a type of material to paste onto the book; they specifically asked for it to not be too stretchy. Unfortunately, the material I could find after searching was stretchy. But I thought to myself that it couldn’t be THAT BAD, right? I WAS WRONG. First attempt completely messed up the print. Second attempt was okay :)

The Result?
It didn't go exactly how I would've wanted it to, but I'm content with the end product. If I had to change something, it'd be the material, cause that's probably where it went wrong.
